BIG STONE GAP, Va. The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park continues its new Artisan Series of programs with the October theme of “Needle Felting,” hosted by Fiona Zahnke.

The workshop will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday in the museum’s Victorian Parlor.

Needle felting entails using a single, barbed needle to tangle and compact wool fibers by repeatedly pushing the needle into the fibers. With a variety of color choices available, personalized designs are limited only by the imagination.

Participants in “Needle Felting” will learn the basics of the needle felting process and will take home their very own, one-of-a-kind creation.

The fee for “Needle Felting” is $25 per person.

All supplies and materials are included in the workshop fee.

The registration and payment deadline for “Needle Felting” is Saturday by 5 p.m. Spaces are limited.

The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park’s Artisan Series will offer a craft project on the third Monday of every month from March through December, providing visitors with opportunities to create handmade crafts with regional artisans.
