Seven individuals have been indicted in federal court on Bell County federal drug charges. Donald (Donnie) Lee King, Melissa Marie Summers, Noe Polanco, Sherrill Wayne King, Donald Lee Joseph (Joe) King, Buddy Tigue and Yolanda Villarreal were indicted in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Kentucky in London.
Sherrill King, 44, and Donnie King, 58, are both from Claiborne County, Tenn. while Summers, 36, Tigue, 54, and Joe King, 30, reside in Bell County. Villarreal and Polanco are both from Texas.
According to the indictment, the suspects conspired together to distribute a quantity of pills containing oxycodone and alprazolam from Jan. 1, 1996 to Sept. 18.
The indictment states several different properties were seized because they were used to commit and facilitate the controlled substance. Those properties include the Bell County Fairgrounds, King’s Recreation and Fitness Center and five other properties in Claiborne and Bell counties.
There were seven firearms seized and two vehicles. Money seized included $17,880 from the console of Tigue’s vehicle, $4,066 from the person of Donnie King, $2,415 from the purse of Summers and $49,440 from Polanco by Texas DEA.
According to the indictment, Donnie King and Summers, who were the only individuals named to the first count of the indictment, are facing 20 years to life for knowingly engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise.
The indictment states all of the alleged suspects are facing up to 20 years imprisonment for the oxycodone distribution charge and up to five years imprisonment for the distribution of alprazolam.
If found guilty, the sentencing can be increased if the defendant has prior felony drug convictions.
A federal trial is scheduled for Dec. 3.
In September, Sherrill King, Donnie King, Tigue and Summers were arrested by the Drug Enforcement Agency and U.S. Marshal Service on the drug charges. Sherrill King was a Claiborne County school teacher and former Cumberland Gap High School basketball coach.
