The eighth annual Friends of the Shelter “Beastie Bash Benefit and Auction” is scheduled for Nov. 16, at Pine Mountain State Park.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Nov. 11.

The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour and a viewing of the auction items. The dinner and auction will follow at 6:30.

Connie Goodwin, chair of the public relations committee for the FOS, said various fundraisers are held throughout the year, but this event is very important for the shelter.

“With the money raised, we provide support to the Bell County Animal Shelter for things like, food, vaccinations, spay/neuter services for low-income families, education to children on responsible pet ownership, and pet transports to name a few,” said Goodwin.

Goodwin explained tickets need to be purchased no later than Monday in order to meet deadlines for reserving meals for the guests.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year so we are trying really hard to get the highest attendance possible,” she said. “If you have never attended you should try to come this year. It’s for a great cause and it really is a lot of fun.”

Auction items will include everything from homemade desserts and University of Kentucky basketball tickets, to artist-signed prints, weekend get-aways and guided turkey hunts.
