LMU kicks off holidays with tree lighting

Weather forced the annual Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) tree lighting ceremony indoors on Thursday. The program was held in the Elizabeth D. Chinnock Chapel on LMU’s main campus in Harrogate, Tenn.

LMU Writer-in-Residence Darnell Arnoult read “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” during the annual ceremony.

The program also featured holiday music performed by LMU staff members Frank Woodward (on piano), assistant vice president for university advancement, Rachel Schott (on fiddle), Carter and Moyers School of Education director of candidate recruitment and retention and Dr. James “Chip” Weisgerber (on trumpet), vice present for student enrollment services and carol singing led by Cindy Whitt-Wall, vice president for university advancement.

Following the tree lighting, the Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra performed in the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center in the Duke Hall of Citizenship.
