A new individual was appointed to the Main Street Pineville Board (MSP) during the regular city council meeting on Monday. Diana Anderson will join David Combs, Louise Ervin, Scott Madon, Patrick McCarty, JoBeth Shafer and Jason Steele on the MSP board.
“I am thrilled and excited to have Diana Anderson as the newest member of the Main Street Pineville Board,” said MSP Director Jacob Roan. “Diana has donated her time to the betterment of this community for years. With her knowledge in grant writing and her appreciation for historical preservation, Diana was an obvious choice.”
Roan also gave a MSP update during the meeting as well. He said MSP is waiting to hear back from state offices about the main street certification application. The program has been reviewed. If the program is certified, it will be nationally recognized.
Roan explained that one service available with certification is that ability to pull architects from the Heritage Council. Those architects can come in and explain how buildings need to be restored and how the facade can be improved.
Roan also said he met with Adventure Tourism Director Jon Grace about trails and the use of the Cumberland River. Without giving any details, he said he hopes to make good use of the river in the future.
