HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Caylor School of Nursing (CSON) at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) nurse anesthesia concentration 2013 graduating class has achieved a first-time pass rate of 100 percent on the national certifying exam.
Additionally, the mean scores of the LMU graduates were above the 2013 national mean for total score and in each of the four exam subcategories.
This is the first time in the program history that either 100 percent first-time pass rate or achieving mean scores above the national average has been attained by the nurse anesthesia concentration.
The 2013 national first-time pass rate was 88.4 percent. The LMU December 2012 graduates also were above the national pass rate on the certification examination.
“The performance by our 2013 graduating class is an attestation to the rigor and quality of our program of study,” said Rickey King, LMU CSON nurse anesthesia program director. “I am proud of the level of excellence that our students continue to achieve.”
The 2013 graduating class received their Master of Science in Nursing degrees in the nurse anesthesia concentration at LMU’s Winter Commencement in December 2013. Within two months of graduating, the class has a 100 percent employment rate. “The LMU nurse anesthesia graduates are highly sought after by employers,” King said.
“I am very proud of our nurse anesthesia graduates, faculty and the entire Caylor School of Nursing,” said Dr. Mary Anne Modrcin, dean of the CSON. “This is a significant achievement on everyone’s part.”
2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the Caylor School of Nursing at LMU. Enrollment in the CSON has quadrupled over the last five years as new programs and concentrations have been added.
