4-H Camp is a great way to fill those lazy summer days. At 4-H Camp, young people learn independence, responsibility, have a lot of fun and make many friends.

4-H camps are open to all Kentucky youth between the ages of 9 and 14. Many exciting activities and adventures await campers. 4-Hers can spend their days participating in activities ranging from swimming to nature hikes. Not only do many children find these activities fun, but they will likely learn new skills and develop a greater appreciation for the environment and wildlife.

4-H personnel want your child to have a camping experience that is not only memorable, but safe. All camp staff and volunteers are trained and undergo background checks prior to camp. Each camp location will have an on-site emergency medical technician at all times to take care of campers’ needs.

4-H members from Bell County will attend J.M. Feltner Memorial 4-H Camp, near London. The camp covers 182 acres of scenic foothills near the Daniel Boone National Forest and the Levi Jackson State Park. The camp serves 28 counties and can accommodate 294 campers and counselors per session in its cabins plus 24 in the outpost for primitive camping.

The cabins and bath houses are heated. Camp facilities include a modern, heated dining hall, crafts building, the new 5-plex, the shelter house, nature building, country store for souvenirs and snacks and a swimming pool with diving board. A one and a half acre lake provides opportunities for fishing, canoeing and pond studies in nature class.

The camp offers facilities for archery, riflery, hiking, volleyball, basketball, tennis and a low ropes challenge course program with a climbing wall and zipline. The shelter house or spacious campfire area is ideal for evening programs or special events.

Camp will be from June 9-12 for Bell County. The camp application deadline is set for May 23 and a $25 deposit is due at this time.

Parents or guardians of campers will be required to attend one of two camp orientation sessions on June 3. (Sessions are set for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.)
