Approximately two years ago a once local author R.L. Longworth began a magazine, Southern Life, about Bell County and the surrounding area.
Although he currently lives thousands of miles away in California, Longworth still has many connections to his hometown and the friends he made during his time here.
The story line that began in this magazine was finished in his book “The Color of Roses” and Longworth returned home last week for a book signing at the Bell Museum.
“It was a huge success, I sold out,” said Longworth. “We had tons of fun.”
The stroll down memory lane does not end with “The Color of Roses,” the author is in the process of finishing several other novels.
“I am also working on a sequel to this story,”The Mystery at Fern Lake” and another one to follow, “Mark Alexander, The Scorpion,” said Longworth.“‘Kentucky Homecoming’ is about a young couple in town, a love story with a love child born out of wedlock in the early 50s.”
“The Color of Roses” is available online at Amazon.com.
