Local band Lockdown will be performing their first gig in two years at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival.

“We’re anticipating the moment,” said Gregg Wright, lead and rhythm guitarist. “We feel confident about it.”

Wright described the band as a Tesla or Led Zeppelin based band. Members of the band include Norman Landrum on the vocals, Wright, Gary Coleman on the drums and Johnny Mason on the bass.

Wright said the band performs a lot of cover songs but also enjoy showcasing their original music. Some notable covers the band performs includes “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf, “Blue on Black” by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, “Mississippi Queen” by Mountain and “Home” by Daughtry.

“We look forward to playing for everyone,” said Wright.

Wright said the band has been together for eight years. They have performed at the fall festival in the past. They have also performed at venues in Corbin and Lafollette, Powell and Tazewell in Tennessee.

At one point, the band took a two year break. During that time, the band regrouped and put more dedication and determination in their music. There was also a change in band members.

“We’re more focused now than we have ever been before,” said Wright.
