CCM, Middlesboro Postal Service concludes toy drive

“It was really quite overwhelming.” That was the statement made by John Day, with the Middlesboro Postal Service, in regards to the Cooperative Christian Ministry (CCM) Christmas Toy Drive. According to him, they received double the amounts of donations from the previous years.
Day said people dropped donations off at the post office. Many gave toys and packages to mail carriers as well, and some even left notes in their mailboxes for carriers to come to their doors and pick up toys.
According to Day, there were individuals who drove from Lexington just to donate toys after seeing the Middlesboro Post Office/ CCM Toy Drive Facebook page. There was also one individual who bought several toys on Amazon and had them delivered to the post office.
“We have everything,” said Day. “We have items for infants to bigger kids.”
Debbie Hunter from Sew Perfect donated Mary Kay products for older girls. Everything that was bought was brand new.
Day said the first donation he received for the toy drive was a baby doll. He then received another small gift and didn’t get another toy for about a week. After that is when he decided to start the Facebook page for the toy drive.
“We greatly appreciate everyone that donated a toy,” said Day. “There are a lot of folks that don’t have anything under their Christmas tree.”
