Middlesboro ARH Hospital welcomed its first baby of the new year born on Jan. 3.

At 8:04 a.m., Nathan Mullins, MD, delivered Nevaeh Madison Faith. She weighed 5 pounds and 15.9 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. Parents are Chasity A. Partin and Robert W. Thomas and they reside in Middlesboro.

As the first baby born at Middlesboro ARH in 2014, the hospital gave Nevaeh and her family a large, baby bathtub full of items every baby needs including a baby monitor. Other gifts from local businesses included a car seat, stroller and electronic swing from Community Trust Bank and a gift certificate from Food City’s Baby Club.

Middlesboro ARH Hospital offers private labor-delivery-recovery rooms with private baths in a home-like atmosphere where the focus is on a family-centered birthing experience. Once the baby is born, the hospital offers rooming in for parents and baby to enhance newborn teaching with a newborn nursery nurse available and dedicated to this service 24 hours a day.

OB-GYN physicians Nathan Mullins, MD, and Ramon Gonzalez, MD, and OB nursing staff provide individualized care for moms and babies. Middlesboro ARH also offers a beautifully designed nursery with a state-of-the-art security system.

“Location, comfort and hospitality supported by a team of highly experienced physicians and nurses are important when selecting an environment to give birth,” said Rhonda Hensley, OB Nurse Manager at Middlesboro ARH. “Here at Middlesboro ARH Hospital, we are proud to have the only full-service OB Department in the tri-state community.”

In 2013, 258 babies were delivered at Middlesboro ARH Hospital.
