Johnson’s Office Equipment was originally opened in 1974. The 1988 tornado claimed the business, but was reopened as Johnco later that year by Jeff Johnson.
Through several locations along Cumberland Avenue and the Middlesboro Mall, Johnco settled at their present location in 2009. They built their current building to include a warehouse for storage and storefront for smaller business sales.
Sales have changed through Johnson’s 26 years as the owner. He has seen a demand for personal and business copying as well as large scale or commercial copiers, fax machines, printers and scanners.
“The bad economy has changed the way we do business. The Internet has really shaped business. You can’t Google service,” said Johnco owner Jeff Johnson.
Johnson attributes the continued success of his business to the excellent service his team of employees delivers to customers and the wide variety of supplies they offer for purchase.
To adjust to the changing market Johnco recently became a FedEx authorized shipping location and opened an online store at www.johncoinc.com
“It’s a work in progress to get the website up and running, but it’s really helped business. People like to shop from their computer so this is convenient for them,” said Johnson.
Johnco offers free delivery for purchases. They are located at 204 S. 19th St. in Middlesboro and are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Johnco can be reached at 606-248-4159.
