This billboard along Hwy. 63 at the southwest corner of the walking trail at Harrogate City Park was blown apart with the middle section coming to rest about half a mile away on the other side of the highway. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the Harrogate area after spotting a tornado on their Doppler radar at around 3:06 p.m. on Monday. Eye witnesses reported seeing a funnel cloud travel northeast through the Shawanee area and into Virginia. Damage was also reported on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University, where on-campus students were sent to the bottom levels of their dorms. As a safety precaution most schools in the area went on lockdown and held their students until the storm warnings had passed by around 4 p.m.
