A Pineville man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly attacking a man with a machete.


Roger Dale Grubbs, 46, was arrested by Middlesboro Police Officer Justin Barton and charged with first-degree assault.


According to the arrest citation, Grubbs attacked Buddy Vaughn with the instrument causing serious physical injury to him. Vaughn was sent to University of Tennessee Medical Center by Middlesboro EMS due to the severeness of his injuries.


Grubbs was arrested on Edgewood Road. He was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.


Others recently arrested include:


• Dusty Edward Ellison, 33, of Lily, two counts of theft by unlawful taking and theft by unlawful taking over $10,000;


• Charles Benton Long, 28, of Ewing, Va., theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting), tampering with physical evidence and third-degree possession of a controlled substance;


• Pete Raygoza, 35, of Middlesboro, tampering with physical evidence and two counts of theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting);


• Tommy Wayne Simpson, 43, of Middlesboro, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and theft by unlawful taking.
