A single vehicle wreck left one female injured on Friday.
Tonya Rigney, of Richmond, was flown from the scene after her vehicle flipped several times on U.S. 25E near Wards Chapel. She was transported by Air Evac to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Aaron Frederick said, according to the evidence at the scene, the vehicle ran off the roadway, hit a drainage ditch and went airborne. He said the vehicle flipped multiple times before coming to rest in the median.
According to reports from the Bell County Rescue Squad, the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was then airlifted to the hospital.
Frederick said Rigney was in stable condition on Monday. He said she is suffering from a fracture in her lower back, but is expected to make a recovery.
The wreck is still under investigation by KSP. The cause of the wreck is still unknown, he said.
Frederick was assisted at the scene by Trooper Wayne Hensley.
Other responding agencies included the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department, Air Evac, the Bell County Rescue Squad and Middlesboro EMS.
