Rainy weather once again tried to dampen Main Street Pineville’s (MSP) weekly farmer’s market, but hundreds came out despite the threat of bad weather and occasional drizzly showers.

Main Street Thursdays are now presented by the Pineville Lions Club and MSP. The Pineville Lions Club recently donated $2,000 to MSP and the funds will be used for Main Street Thursdays throughout October.

MSP announced the new official name on their FaceBook page: Main Street Thursdays presented by the Pineville Lions Club and Main Street Pineville.

Each week Main Street Thursdays begins with the Children’s Reading Foundation of Appalachia-KY handing out books at noon. Farmers set up and various local talents take the stage at 4 p.m. This past week’s event included an inflatable for children sponsored by the Pineville Rotary Club and McCarty’s Lemonade.

MSP Director Jacob Roan’s prediction for the new event has become a reality. Roan said at the beginning of the summer, “I look for it to grow every week.” The event certainly has grown every week and this week is scheduled to be the biggest yet as Main Street Thursday runs in conjunction with Kidsfest.

Kidsfest begins at 6 p.m. and ends with a free outdoor movie at 9 p.m. The Pineville Rotary Club is sponsoring all of the inflatables plus an inflatable at the MSP farmer’s market on Thursday.

The Pineville Kiwanis Club will be providing free hot dogs and a drink to all children and adults can purchase a hot dog dinner.

Entertainment is lined up throughout the evening and includes karate demos, a maze, inflatables and at 9 p.m. The Little Rascal’s will play on the inflatable screen on the courthouse lawn.

Anyone who sells children’s clothing or items geared toward children can contact Roan at 606-499-0660 as he is still accepting vendors, volunteers and donors.
