The Bell County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man on a DUI charge following an early morning wreck on Wednesday.
Adam Keith Lewis, 29, of Richmond, was arrested by Deputy Shane Stewart and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
According to Stewart, Lewis’ vehicle was traveling southbound on U.S. 25E near the Pineville Water Treatment Plant. The vehicle reportedly hit a guard rail and then went into the median. The vehicle then flipped and landed on its top in the northbound lane.
Bell County Volunteer Fire Department Public Relations Officer Bucky Shelby said the driver, Lewis, was not injured in the wreck. Lewis was taken into custody by the sheriff’s office shortly thereafter.
Stewart said Lewis had been drinking and also allegedly had prescription drugs in his system at the time of the wreck. A small cooler of beer was also allegedly located in the vehicle.
The BCVFD responded to the crash with one crash rescue truck and several fire department members, according to Shelby. The scene was cleared around 8:45 a.m. Bell County EMS also assisted at the scene.
