Vets Serving Vets Appreciation Day went off without a hitch on Saturday, as hundreds came out to support the area’s veterans.

Vets Serving Vets (VSV) was organized in November after the idea was prompted while setting up the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Middlesboro.

Despite sweltering heat and threats of pop up rain showers, droves of attendees showed up to support the event and everything it stood for.

Numerous local businesses set up tents throughout the city parking lot selling food, drinks and snacks, with all proceeds going to Vets Serving Vets.

Towards the end of the day, businesses gave away the remaining food and drinks to those still in attendance.

Various local artists took the stage and provided entertainment throughout the day.

At the end of the event, a rededication of the moving wall took place. Two additional names were added and the Middlesboro ROTC performed a ceremony in remembrance.

A large crowd gathered for the ceremony with many openly weeping as the ROTC performed.
