Carley Renae Hall, 8, and a third-grader at Tazewell-New Tazewell (TNT) School in Claiborne County, Tenn., was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (cancer) on Nov. 25 at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital (ETCH) in Knoxville, Tenn.
Since her diagnosis, Hall has split her time between Claiborne County and ETCH battling the disease. Hall was recently declared to be in remission and is currently receiving her last round of chemotherapy at ETCH.
Throughout the course of her treatment, Hall had to receive blood transfusions and she may have to receive more before her treatment is finalized. Medic Mobile reached out to a local business to help Hall.
It’s My Party owner Wendy Killion said Medic asked the newly opened party store to host the blood drive for the young girl and they immediately said yes.
“Medic of Knoxville approached It’s My Party and inquired about the store hosting a blood drive for Carley Hall in our parking lot,” said Killion. “Of course, we quickly agreed and are proud to help this child and other members of the community.”
Killion is hopeful for a good turnout for the event and encourages everyone that can to come out and donate.
“We are hoping to have a wonderful turnout and invite everyone that can and will to donate in Carley’s honor,” said Killion.
Hall’s mother Rita McIntosh says she is still overwhelmed by the outpouring of support her family has seen since her daughter’s diagnosis.
“Everyone has been so helpful,” said McIntosh. “We are so thankful for the support.”
The blood drive will take place at It’s My Party, located beside Credit Central in front of Walmart in Tazewell, on Sept. 11 from noon to 7 p.m.
