The city of Middlesboro will be holding their annual Independence Day celebration on July 4.
There will be free swimming at the city pool, hot dogs, ice cream, drinks and fireworks as well as music provided by several local bands.
Dark Ridge bluegrass band member Larry Cadle has been playing traditional music for many years and has donated his time to the city event.
“I like playing locally. It’s kind of our music, it was developed here and I want to keep it alive,” said Cadle.
Music from bands Dark Ridge, Tazewell Pike and Family and Friends will be playing at the community center from 12:05 p.m. until 5:10 p.m.
“There will be probably several hundred people coming through for the music and the ice cream and such. It’ll be a good time,” said Cadle.
Indoor events will continue rain or shine.
The Middlesboro fireworks last year were postponed until Labor Day due to severe weather.
Providing there will be good weather, the evening will conclude with fireworks which will be visible throughout the Bell County area.
