Middlesboro Mall hosted a sidewalk sale during the Fourth of July holiday weekend in an effort to help boost store sales.

Store owners, managers and employees report the sale was a success as they saw increased mall traffic as early as Thursday — the first day of the weekend long sale.

Business owner Tracy Baker of Red Balloon Celebrations said she was thankful for the much needed support.

“We need support here,” said Baker.

Baker said she could see an increase in traffic flow throughout the mall during the sale.

“The sidewalk sale made a difference,” continued Baker.

Shoe Show Manager T.J. Black said the sale had been great for business with increased mall traffic each day of the sidewalk sale. Shoe Show started their sale on June 26 and Black reported seeing a big increase in sales since the mall wide sale began on Thursday.

Parents were able to purchase back-to-school shoes at a reduced clearance price, with an additional 50 percent off.

Claire’s and Rue 21 also participated in the sidewalk sale and offered $2 racks.

B&G Handbags had specials as low as $2.99 for children’s purses. Factory Connection had clothing priced with as much as 75 percent off.

Bath and Body Works hosted a semi-annual sale along with the sidewalk event. They discounted fragrances as much as 75 percent off.
