MANCHESTER — Work on the Cumberland Gap Tunnel, located on U.S. 25E, will begin Sunday and continue through July 17 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., leading to nightly tunnel closures.

In order to allow the contractor to perform maintenance operations, it will be necessary to close one tunnel. All traffic will be routed to the open tunnel while the work is ongoing.

All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the work zone and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.

Road condition reports for District 11 routes are available by calling 511 or by visiting the 511 travel and traffic information web site at http://511.ky.gov.
