The Bell County Bobcats opened the season with a 6-2 loss at Whitley County on Thursday.


Evan Brock led Bell County with two singles and scored both runs. Caleb Smith singled in a run in the first inning and Dylan Cox singled in the other Bobcat run in the sixth.


Corey Crisologo got the win for the Colonels. He gave two runs on six hits over seven innings while striking out one and not walking a batter.


Austin North didn’t pitch badly in the loss. He allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits over four frames while striking out two and walking three.


Jacob Rose and Jordan Slusher had the other hits for Bell County.


Casey Crisologo doubled leading off the game for Whitley. He advanced to third on a ground out and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Michael Harris.


The Colonels took the lead for good in the second. Jesse Bryant reached on an error, Alex Edmonson singled to put runners at the corners and Corey Crisologo followed with a sacrifice fly to put Whitley up 2-1.


They added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. Casey Crisologo led the Colonels with two hits, including a double, one run scored and one RBI. Jordan Crussenberry had two hits with a run scored and an RBI while Corey Crisologo and Lewis both had doubles.


The Bobcats were set to host Knox Central on Friday and visit North Laurel on Monday.
