CHARLESTON — A Boone County woman has been arrested in Charleston for stealing a purse and then biting a police officer who was attempting to detain her.
Parma Jo Bobbit, 52, of Boone County, was charged after police discovered she allegedly had a role in a purse snatching incident at the Kanawha City Bob Evans Restaurant.
According to police reports, Bobbie Legg, of Campbells Creek, Kanawha County, said she left her purse on the floor of the Bob Evans beside her chair. When she moved the chair back, she discovered the purse was missing.
Legg told police two women at the table behind hers, who did not order anything, were seen on surveillance video grabbing and leaving with her purse, which contained $100 cash, credit and debit cards, car keys and a cell phone.
Bobbit allegedly used the credit card minutes later at the Marmet Exxon.
It was then that the officer attempted to detain her based on available information.
While detaining her, Bobbit allegedly bit the police officer.
The incident is still under investigation but police say Bobbit will probably face theft charges in connection with the purse as well as charges of assaulting a police officer.
