Many family members, friends and guests gathered to celebrate the 67th wedding anniversary of John S. and Betty (Drummond) Osborne on Dec. 14 at the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The bride’s uncle, the Rev. George Buchanan, officiated the wedding ceremony on Dec. 14, 1946 in Tazewell, Tenn.
John retired after a long career from Kentucky Utilities and Betty was employed by the Laurel County School System, and now resides at the MN&RC following a debilitating stroke in 2007.
Although the Rev. Buchanan is now deceased, his daughters were able to attend along with the maid of honor, the bride’s sister Bobbie (Drummond) Brooks. Besides members from the original wedding party, they were joined by their son David M. Osborne, of London; two grandsons and their wives, Matt and Alley Osborne, of Ooltewah, Tenn., and Ben and Brandy Osborne, of Nicholasville.
The couple’s pastor, Zach Bay, of the First Baptist Church in Middlesboro, gave an anniversary prayer. Cory Eldridge provided an opening selection of music, and then Larry and Karen Blondell entertained with vocals and piano of songs and music from the 1940s big band era.
Hosting the anniversary reception was the Osborne’s niece Cynthia (Brooks) Davis along with the activities director Christy Bean and her team of Charmaine Moore, Marlena Hubbard, Mary Ann Baker and Bobbi Tuttle.
