BIG STONE GAP, Va. — The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park will host its First Saturday Community Coffee House on Saturday, from 7-9 p.m. Aaron and Lisa Davis will serve as the featured hosts for this month’s Coffee House.
Born and raised in Big Stone Gap, Va., Aaron Davis earned an M.A. in Appalachian studies from Appalachian State University and currently serves as the assistant park manager at the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park. He and his wife, Lisa Davis, who is a proud Appalachian transplant from Culpeper, Va. and an art and drama teacher extraordinaire in the Dickenson County Public School System, explore music from Appalachia as well as Americana music that strikes their fancy. Aaron and Lisa Davis also tour with their regular band, Ron Short & The Possum Playboys.
The First Saturday Community Coffee House is an open-mic event and is open to all family-friendly performers.
All interested musicians, storytellers, and poets should arrive by 6:30pm for sign-up and scheduling. Admission is free to this program. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
