Bell County High School Air Force Junior ROTC celebrated their 21st annual Cadet Ball on Feb. 22 at the Pine Mountain Lodge. The ball was attended by 64 cadets and guests.
The guest speaker for the evening was Bill Gibson, principal of Frakes Elementary School Center, pastor of Salem No. 2 Baptist Church at Clear Creek and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He attended with his wife, Kelly.
The Pine Mountain Lodge provided an excellent meal, and Gibson’s speech was engaging and inspirational. He spoke to the cadets about succeeding in their lives by overcoming obstacles, and meeting challenges. He provided excellent examples from his own life.
After the speech, cadet Lieutenant Colonel Todd Root, the 931st Cadet Group Commander, presented Gibson with a small token of the Corps appreciation.
Another highlight of the evening was the naming of the ball queen, princess and court.
This year’s queen is Kateland Ortiz, a senior at Bell County High School.
The Princess is Klowie Ortiz, a freshman and a sister of the queen.
Members of the court were Amber Daniels, Kirsten Middleton, Breanna Boatright and Holly Holt.
Cadets enjoyed an evening of dancing to music provided by Mr. Robbie Brumbach after the ceremonies.
