The public is invited to attend a meet and greet reception with Cumberland Gap National Historical Park Superintendent Sula Jacobs and special guest Sarah Craighead, acting deputy regional director, on Friday from noon to 2 p.m. The reception will provide an opportunity for community members and park visitors to “mix and mingle” with park staff.
Sarah Craighead, superintendent at Mammoth Cave National Park, is currently acting as a deputy regional director for the southeast region of the National Park Service in Atlanta. As acting deputy regional director, she is working with superintendents in numerous National Park Service areas throughout the southeast, including Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
Sula Jacobs arrived at Cumberland Gap in March and has been actively involved with the communities surrounding the park. “One of the things that makes this particular national park so special is the community involvement and support,” says Superintendent Jacobs. “I’m looking forward to seeing some new faces and reacquainting myself with folks I’ve recently met.”
The community reception will be held at the park visitor center and will include complimentary refreshments.
“Our national parks are an integral part of our communities,” adds Jacobs. “We appreciate the support from our park neighbors and look forward to working together to protect and showcase this incredible place.”
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Chris Phillips at 606-248-2817 ext. 1050.
