BIG STONE GAP, Va. — The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park will host its First Saturday Community Coffee House on June 7, from 7-9 p.m.
Savannah Smith, Mark Mullins, and Tyler Kilbourne will serve as the featured hosts for this month’s coffee house.
Savannah Smith is a sophomore at Union High School and a longtime volunteer at the Southwest Virginia Museum, helping at various events and programs. She has been a member of the Powell Valley Middle School Band and a majorette in the Union High School Band, plays the piano, and continues to take lessons in guitar. During several summers, she was a cast member of the outdoor drama, The Trail of the Lonesome Pine.
Mark Mullins is a drummer from Big Stone Gap, who has been playing music for 14 years. He graduated from Union High School in 2013 and now attends the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. Tyler Kilbourne is a pianist from Big Stone Gap and has been playing music for 10 years. He currently attends Union High School. Tyler and Mark have played music together for two years, have been in multiple music groups, and have also participated in Union High School Marching Band.
The First Saturday Community Coffee House is an open-mic event and is open to all family-friendly performers. All interested musicians, storytellers and poets should arrive by 6:30 p.m. for sign-up and scheduling. Admission is free to this program. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
