Barter Theatre will stage “Ring of Fire” in Ben Hur on Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. The program is presented by Pro-Art Association and the town of Pennington Gap as part of the Lee County Cultural Arts Series. It will be staged in C. Bascom Slemp Auditorium in Lee High School at Ben Hur.
“Ring of Fire” by Barter Theatre is a journey through the life of Johnny Cash as told by his music. The “Man in Black” was a man like no other, whether he sang about his love for June Carter Cash, his hard-living, hard-partying ways, or his deep and abiding faith.
A multi-talented cast performs Cash’s best-known hits. Included are “I Walk the Line,” “Ring of Fire,” “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”
Admission is $15, adults; $10, seniors; and $5, students. This program is partially supported by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
