Celebrate Freedom Chairman Jim Hyde has announced that a golf scrambles event will be held Friday at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville to assist service members who have been injured in the line of duty.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the non-profit organization, Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and will support a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.

WWP’s 18 programs and services are uniquely structured to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.

Celebrate Freedom was brought into by local resident Jim Hyde four years ago to honor America’s service personnel past and present. This year, he has added the golf scrambles to raise money for WWP. The Armed Forces Day event will be held May 17 with the golf scrambles being held Friday.

“We are hoping to field at least 20 teams of four players each,” said Hyde. He stated there would be a $10,000 pay out for a hole-in-one at a particular hole to be determined before scrambles begin.

The scrambles shotgun start is at 9 a.m. The individual entry fee will be $55 or $200 team of four. Winners will be recognized at in Middlesboro during the Armed Forces Day celebration.

Golfers desiring to be a part of the scrambles may contact Hyde at 606-302-0333 or visit www.chpap.com.
