A Pennington Gap man and female juvenile were recently arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly breaking into a home and stealing copper wire.
Thomas Ray Lawson, 22, was charged with breaking and entering and destruction of property. The 17-year-old female was released to her parents and will be charged later in the week.
According to a press release, Sheriff Gary Parsons reports that on May 2, officers were dispatched to a house in the Skaggs Hill section of the county. Upon arrival, officers discovered the house, which was expensive, had been vandalized. The copper wire had also been stolen, doing extreme amounts of damage.
Parson said extra patrol was established on the home. The release states on Saturday night officers discovered Lawson and the female staying in the house. The two had built a fire in the fireplace. The female ran from police but was later found hiding in a closet.
Lawson was lodged in the Duffield Regional Jail.
