BARBOURVILLE (AP) — A 22-month-old girl has died a day after being hit by a car in southeastern Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police say the driver of a 2013 Ford Mustang told police he didn’t see the girl when he pulled onto a roadway Monday in Barbourville. Police say the man did see two other children with the toddler and waited for them to get out of the road.
Police say Rylan Rose of Barbourville fell under the car and was hit by the back wheel.
The Fayette County coroner’s office says the girl died of traumatic brain injury Tuesday afternoon at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, where she was flown after being hit. Her name wasn’t released.
The investigation continues, but police say no alcohol or drug use is suspected.
