The Middlesboro Trail Town Task Force met last week at the Makers Market on Cumberland Avenue to further discuss their goal of getting Middlesboro to become a designated Kentucky Trail Town.
This designation would denote a town that encompasses a long distance trail or adjacent to an existing extensive trail system. Whether the trail is for hiking, water or rail, users can venture from the path to explore the unique scenery, commerce and heritage that each Trail Town has to offer.
A Trail Town is also a safe place where both residents of the town and trail users can walk or drive to find the goods and services they need.
By receiving a Trail Town designation from the state, Middlesboro would receive funding assistance in the means of tourism advertising and signage on the major roadways to name a few of the benefits.
The Trail Town Task Force is made up of five committees and one chairperson. If you are interested in volunteering your time for the task force, please contact the Task Force Chairman Bill Powell by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
