Using the slogan “One Full Building Equals Many Fed Families,” Elydale Elementary School has started a food collection drive to serve their school family with the hopes of including more schools in the district.

Steve Middleton with the Cumberland Garden Center has loaned a storage building to the school to use for storing the food.

The school is asking for canned goods and other non-perishable foods such as macaroni and cheese, Ramen noodles and cereal. Boxes of snack crackers and cereal bars can also be donated. The school conducted a similar drive last year and donated all the food collected to local families in need at the school.

The food drive will teach students to share, care and give to their community. Various activities are planned. Events are being sponsored to help fill the building by Dec. 18.

Everyone is invited to contribute to the drive.

Donations may be dropped off at the school during school hours.
