Gwendolyn Carol Caudill Simpson, 64, of Harrogate, TN, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at her home. She was born June 17, 1949 in Blackey, KY, the daughter of the late Ben and Virginia “Jenny” Hamilton Caudill. She accepted Christ as her Savior on April 29, 1972 and was a member of the Binghamtown Baptist Church for 36 years. She was united in marriage to Ronnie Carl Simpson on January 27, 1968 and 3 children were born to this union. She was a waitress at Shoney’s in Harrogate, TN from the day the doors opened until 2004. She had a strong work ethic, believing one should always strive to be the best they could be, no matter what their job. She is remembered fondly by all of her co-workers and many customers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Larry Caudill and Bill Jack Dixon, her mother-in-law: Pauline Scott Simpson, her father-in-law: Charles Simpson, her brothers-in-law: David Wayne Simpson, Paul Gilmer Simpson, Steve Napier and Leon Brown, and a sister-in-law: Hazel Simpson Caperton.
This beloved wife, mother, sister and mamaw is survived the following members of her family:

Her sisters: Brenda Brown of Columbia, KY, and Nancy and husband Sam Oaks of Blackey, KY;
Her brother: Tim Caudill of Blackey, KY;
Her sister-in-law: Ute Caudill of Jeremiah, KY;
Her brothers-in-law: Ray and wife Brenda Simpson of Harrogate, TN and Roger and wife Suzie of Brandon, Mississippi;
Sisters-in-law: Retta Napier of Kingsport, TN, Beulah and husband Dave Curtis of Tazewell, TN and Ruthie and husband Jim Betley of Harrogate, TN;
Her nine grandchildren: Austin, Jared, Kaylee, Cole, Cooper, Courtney, Adrianna, Ian and Caden and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. William Boyd Bingham, Garry Bingham, Orban Amix and Ken Flowers presiding. Music will be provided by the Binghamtown Baptist Church Choir. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, at the Harrogate Cemetery at Harrogate, TN. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and her nephews. Honorary pallbearers are special friend: Betty Reheard, Elizabeth Larew and the the staff of Family Medical Clinic of Harrogate, TN, Pam Delph, Caroline Garzon, Cherylanne Whitaker and the staff of Amedisys Hospice of Morristown, TN.
