HINDMAN — The Bell County Bobcats ran into a tough Perry County Central team in their first round game at the WYMT Mountain Classic on Tuesday at Knott Central High School.
The Commodores got 16 first-half points from Braxton Beverly as they jumped out to a 39-21 lead by halftime. Beverly left the game with a sprained ankle and Bell was able play even in the second half, but Perry Central went on to a 64-46 win.
Justin Johnson finished with 11 points while Matt Turner, John Toomer and Damon Tobler added ten points each for the Commodores.
Bell County was led by 12 points each from seniors Tyler Potter and Josh Asher. Sophomore center Zach Partin added 11 points off the bench and Jake Patterson finished with seven.
Perry Central (10-3) advances to play Lawrence County on Thursday in the tournament’s semifinal round. Bell County (7-6) will take on Cordia on Friday in the consolation bracket.
