BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Danielle Lawrence scored 23 points as top-ranked Butler defeated Lafayette 62-50 Friday in the quarterfinals of the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16.


The Region 6 champion Bearettes will face Ashland Blazer in the semifinals Saturday in Diddle Arena.


The Bearettes started the fourth quarter with an 11-1 run and shot 42 percent from 3-point range to defeat Lafayette (28-4).


Jaelynn Penn ended the first half with five straight points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send Butler into halftime up 28-22.


The Bearettes (30-3) scored 27 points off of 23 Lafayette turnovers.


Lawrence had six rebounds, five assists and four steals while Penn scored 17 points and three rebounds.


Dee Givens registered 19 points for the Region 11 champion Generals. Ashanti Thomas had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Lafayette.


Ashland Blazer 64, Danville 55


Haley Sue Foutch had 19 points and 13 rebounds as Ashland Blazer defeated Danville 64-55 Friday in the second round of the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16.


The Tomcats (26-8) will face the winner of Lafayette-Butler in the semifinals Saturday in Diddle Arena.


Ashland Blazer made 12 free throws in the final two minutes to pull away.


The Tomcats shot 52 percent from the field while their defense held Danville (25-8) to just 28.8 percent shooting.


Mykassa Robinson scored 18 points. Alexis Robinson had 11 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots for the Region 16 champion Tomcats.


Essence Grey scored a game high 25 points for Danville. Grey also had seven rebounds for the Region 12 champions and Alyvia Walker had 12 points and two rebounds for the Lady Admirals.


Clark Co. 45, Marshall Co. 37


BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Sandra Skinner had 15 points as Clark County used a second half surge to defeat Marshall County 45-37 on Friday in the quarterfinals of the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16.


The Region 10 champion Lady Cardinals (27-7) went on a 14-2 run in the second half and forced three Lady Marshal turnovers in the final two minutes to reach a semifinal matchup with Elizabethtown-Anderson County Saturday in Diddle Arena.


Clark County shot 53.6 percent from the field, while holding the Region 1 champion Lady Marshals to a 32.6 percent shooting clip.


Skinner also had 12 rebounds and two steals while Sydney Anderson scored 11 points with two rebounds and a steal.


Michaela Manley had 12 points and four rebounds for Marshall County (31-6). Alyssa Barnard registered nine points and a steal for the Lady Marshals.


Elizabethtown 58, Anderson Co. 37


Erin Boley scored 17 points as Elizabethtown defeated Anderson County 58-37 on Friday in the quarterfinals of the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16.


The No. 2 Lady Bearcats (28-5) were held to 22.6 percent shooting as Elizabethtown reaches the semifinals to face Clark County Saturday in Diddle Arena.


Third-ranked Anderson County’s 37 points was the lowest point total on the year in the loss for the Lady Bearcats, which broke a 12-game win streak dating back to Feb. 1.


Boley had 14 rebounds and Reauna Cleaver posted 10 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks for the Region 5 champion Panthers.


Eriel Mckee had 13 points, six rebounds and four steals for Anderson County (28-5). Destiny Stewart had nine points and Makenzie Cann posted eight points and seven rebounds for the Region 8 champions.
