BARBOURVILLE — The Bell County Bobcats placed second an the Lady Cats placed third in the team standings at the SEKC track meet at Knox Central on Friday.


Corbin totaled 152 points to take first place on the boys’ side. Bell was next with and even 100 while Knox Central was third with 86. Pineville finished in sixth place and Middlesboro was ninth.


Williamsburg was the girls’ winner with a total of 181 points. Corbin was second with 125 and Bell County third with 77. Pineville’s girls placed sixth and Middlesboro was ninth.


Bobcat freshman Austin Shackleford took first place in both the boys’ 400 and 800 meter runs with respective times of 53.2 and 2:05.0. Junior Donovan Napier was second in the boys’ 1600 meter run and third in the 3200 while teammate Mitchell Miracle placed fourth in both events.


Napier, Miracle, Logan Woody and Nathan Morales took first in the 4 x 800 meter relay with a time of 9:00.3.


Treyton Humfleet placed second in the 200 meter dash and third in the 100. He also teamed with Ben Collett, Austin Asher and Andrew Harris for a second place finish in the 4 x 100 meter relay. Shackleford, Humfleet, Napier and Nathan Morales teamed up to finish second in the 4 x 400.


Pineville was led by senior Dalton Ledbetter’s work in the jumping events. Ledbetter won the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 10 inches and placed first in the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 9 inches. He was also third in the triple jump. The Lions also got a fourth place finish from senior Caleb McCorckle in the 200 meter dash.


Middlesboro was led by junior Brad King third place finish in the discus throw. Junior Jared Hoskins placed seventh in the shot put. The Jackets also got a sixth place finish from freshman Adam Hughes in the 110 meter hurdles.


In the girls’ event, Bell County got boost from junior Taylor Bingham. Bingham took first place in the shot put with a distance of 28 feet, 6.5 inches. She also was second in the high jump. Sophomore Katrina Johnson won the long jump with a distance of 14 feet, 4.5 inches.


Senior Kelly Brown also contributed heavily to the Lady Cats’ point total. She placed second in the 3200 meter run and third in the 1600. Brown also anchored the girls 4 x 800 meter relay team that placed third along with Kaite Mason, Johnson and Jeana Fultz. Johnson, Brown, Mason and Allison Howard also took third in the 4 x 400.


Johnson, Howard, Bingham and Alex Brock placed third in the 4 x 100 and the Lady Cats also took fourth in the 4 x 200 with Mason, Brock, Rebecca Welch and Elizabeth Mills making up that team. Brock added a fourth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles and a sixth place in the 200 meter dash.


Pineville sprinter Rachel Barnes had a strong day. She won the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.7 and placed second in the 200. Barnes also took second in the long jump.


Middlesboro was led by junior Emily Pratt’s fifth place finish in the girls 100 meter dash. Pratt teamed with Makayla Prater, Hallie North and Karrah Hart to also take fifth in the 4 x 100 relay. The Lady Jacket team of Prater, Hart, Brooklyn Grigsby and Meradith Rutherford finished sixth in the 4 x 200.
