ROCK HILL, S.C. — Lincoln Memorial University senior outfielder Brianna Mulkey was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference first team, while junior utility player Amanda Snow was voted All-SAC second team, the league office announced on Wednesday. The members of the All-SAC Teams are nominated and voted on by the head coaches from each of the league’s 12 softball programs.

It was another elite offensive season for Mulkey, who earned All-conference honors for the fourth time in her stellar career while making her second appearance on the first team. She is the first player in program history to be voted All-SAC four times.

Mulkey led the Lady Railsplitters (26-15, 12-8 SAC) in nearly every offensive category, finishing the regular season ranked fifth in the SAC in batting average at .407, third in on-base percentage with a .510 clip, second in stolen bases with 19, 13th in runs scored with 35 and 17th in hits with 50. Mulkey’s gaudy on-base percentage was bolstered by the 26 walks she drew, which ranks fourth among all players in the South Atlantic Conference. Mulkey’s stat ledger was rounded out by a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 44 putouts and three outfield assists in 47 chances in center field.

Despite finishing the regular-season slate with only seven RBI, she batted .422 with runners in scoring position and .586 with two outs. Mulkey lifted her average substantially in conference play, where she hit .433 with 29 hits in only 67 official at-bats.

The Kettering, Ohio native is nearing the end of one of the most productive careers in the history of the Lincoln Memorial University softball program. Mulkey’s name is scattered throughout the school record book as she ranks first in school history in stolen bases with 119 (fifth in SAC history), third in runs scored with 131 (11th in SAC history), fourth in hits with 210, eighth in batting average with a lifetime .357 mark and ninth in career on-base percentage at .421.

Joining Mulkey, junior Amanda Snow was coined as the All-SAC second team utility player, nabbing the second All-conference nod of her career. Snow’s impact for the Lady Railsplitters was felt in equal parts in the batter’s box and on the mound. The Knoxville product batted .321 with 36 hits, five doubles, six home runs and 29 RBI. She posted a .429 on-base percentage behind 17 walks drawn and a .527 slugging percentage with 59 total bases.

While Snow’s bat proved a formidable force in the middle of LMU’s lineup for the third-straight season, she made a significant leap on the mound where she became a dynamic arm in spot starts and relief for the Lady Railsplitters. Snow finished fourth in the SAC with a 1.41 ERA, allowing only nine earned runs in 44 2/3 innings pitched. She compiled a 5-1 record with four complete games, striking out 40 batters while holding her opponents to a .223 batting average, the seventh-lowest mark in the conference this season.

Behind a program-record 12 South Atlantic Conference wins, the Lady Railsplitters finished fifth in the league’s final regular-season standings. The five-seeded Lady Railsplitters are set to open the 2014 Food Lion SAC Championship on Thursday, April 24 at 10 a.m. against No.4 Tusculum. The entire four-day SAC Championship is scheduled to be hosted by Lincoln Memorial University, with the majority of the tournament being held at Dorothy Neely Field.
