Middlesboro athletic director Bill Jones was recently recognized as the 13th Region’s Athletic Director of the Year by the Kentucky High School Athletic Directors Association.
Jones is wrapping up his fourth year as the school’s AD and he attributed his success to always keeping the student athletes at the forefront.
“Their success in sports contributes greatly to their success in the classroom,” Jones said.
Jones is only the fifth athletic director Middlesboro High School has had. The others were Tom “Chalk” Stapleton, Wayne Wilson, David Mike and Kenny Roark.
“I’ve followed a very short list of outstanding athletic directors that established a very high standard here,” he said. “I’m just trying to keep with the tradition, pride and excellence of the Middlesboro School System.”
