People’s Choice Pharmacy picked the right time to post their first win of the year. Ethan Everage slid home just ahead of the tag to score the winning run with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the sixth inning on Thursday and PCP walked off with a 6-5 win over Dr. Epps in an elimination game at the Middlesboro Little League Tournament.
Carson Shumate shut Dr. Epps out over the final three innings to get the victory. He allowed just two hits and walked one while striking out three.
Starter Parker Hall kept Epps off the board in the top of the first inning and then led off the bottom of the frame with a single. Shumate and D.J. Estes both walked and all three runners would eventually find their way home for a 3-0 lead.
Dr. Epps got on the board in the second when Jonathan Weaver singled and then scored on a throwing error two outs later after Taye Drake hit a grounder.
Epps rallied to take the lead in the top of the third. Conner Winterberger walked, Jayden Fisher singled and Shawn North delivered an RBI single. David Kyle followed with a two-run triple to put Dr. Epps on top. Kyle would score late to make it 5-3.
Lane Bayless singled for PCP in the third and he scored on a two-out hit by Everage to make it a one-run game.
The score remained 5-4 until the bottom of the sixth inning. Estes singled leading off and Everage walked. Brayden Allen’s ground out moved the runners to second and third and Estes scored on a passed ball. PCP was down to their last strike when a wild pitch allowed Everage to score from third and his teammate mobbed him behind the plate.
Estes walked, singled and scored two runs for People’s Choice while Hall and Bayless both singled and scored a run. Shumate walked and scored whle Everage singled, walked and scored a run. Kaden Ayers also had a hit and Brayden Allen walked in the game.
Kyle doubled and tripled to lead Dr. Epps, he drove in two runs and scored one. Conner Winterberger doubled, walked twice and scored a run. Jayden Fisher had two singles and a run scored and Weaver singled and scored a run.
People’s Choice advances to play Overbay’s in another elimination game, scheduled for Friday.
