Every player reached base at least once for Overbay’s and Tyshawn Simpson held Coke to one run on three hits over four-plus innings as Overbays eliminated Coke 10-1 on Thurday at the Middlesboro Little League Tournament.
Tyler Harris was hit by a pitch leading off the game and Ethan Treece walked. The both came around to score in the inning as Christopher Hobbs and Jay Tyler West reached on an error for a 2-0 lead.
West doubled in the third to score Treece and Eric Hunter and stretch the Overbay’s lead to 4-0.
They added two more runs in the fourth. Alex Frank walked and was forced out as Harris reached on a fielder’s choice grounder to short. Treece doubled to plate Harris and later scored on a passed ball to make it 6-0.
Hobbs and Bryson Hatfield both walked in the fifth inning with Hobbs later coming around to score and make it 7-0.
Coke got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Jadria Brown and Cole Hubbard both walked and Stephen Justice delivered an two-out RBI single, but 7-1 was as close as they would get.
Thomas Justice doubled, Helton and Simpson both walked and they would all three come around to score to make it 10-1.
Coke got a two-out double from James Halcomb in the sixth, but he was left at second as Overbay’s went on to the win.
Treece doubled, walked twice and scored three runs to lead Overbay’s at the plate. Jay Tyler West and Thomas Justice also had doubles in the game while Harris and Helton both scored twice.
Bradlee Hale singled and doubled to lead Coke. Stephen Justice had an RBI single and Halcomb doubled. Brown walked and scored a run while Clayton Hubbard and Cole Hubbard also drew walks in the game.
Overbay’s advances to play People’s Choice Pharmacy in an elimination game on Friday.
