Bell County 11- and 12-year-olds opened the youth football season with a 33-0 win over Thomas Walker, Va., on Saturday in the Bell County Bowl.
Quarterback Seth Mills opened the scoring for the Bobcats with a 38-yard touchdown run. Bell County forced a three and out and took over after a punt at their own 33. Hunter Bailey ran for a 20-yard gain and Mills got loose again and scampered 47 yards for a second touchdown. Mills added the extra point to stretch the lead to 13-0.
On the next Pioneer possession Cameron Burnett forced a fumble and it was recovered by Devin Hoskins. Mills then connected with Dylan Hoskins for a 23-yard pass play to the Thomas Walker 18-yard line. Two plays later it was Bailey finding the end zone on an 8-yard run.
Mills found the end zone again just seconds before the half with a 21-yard touchdown run. The score at halftime was Bell County 26, Thomas Walker 0.
Thomas Walker fumbled the kickoff to start the third quarter and Bell’s Chandler Widner recovered. Mills then hooked up with Dawson Woolum for 29 yards on a pass play. Brandon Baker added a 16-yard touchdown run for the Bobcats on the very next play with Mills passing to Dylan Hoskins for the two-point conversion that made it 33-0.
That proved to be the final score as the Bobcats held on for the shutout.
