LEXINGTON (AP) — Kentucky senior defensive end Alvin “Bud” DuPree is on the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award given to the nation’s best defensive player.
The Associated Press’ second team all-Southeastern Conference selection passed on entering the NFL Draft after leading the Wildcats with seven sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss as a junior. Dupree led SEC defensive linemen with 61 tackles and ranked sixth in sacks.
He recorded a career game against Mississippi State highlighted by 13 tackles, including two for loss, and a sack.
Semifinalists for the award will be announced Nov. 3 with three finalists to be named on Nov. 24.
