SAINT CHARLES, Va. — A Thursday evening search warrant served by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD) led to the arrest of five individuals, and the seizure of a large amount of cash and drugs, according to a recent press release.

Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons reported that an ongoing narcotics investigation resulted in deputies serving a search warrant at the residence of 49-year-old Kenneth David Newton of Saint Charles, Va.

Parsons said that upon searching the residence, officers discovered 180 eighty milligram Oxycontin pills, 20 grams of cocaine, two ounces of marijuana, and over $2,100 in cash.

According to Parsons, surveillance of the Newton residence had gone on for months. LCSD informants had been in and out of the residence on several different occasions, giving officers vital information. The drugs found during the search would have a street value of nearly $25,000.

Parsons said that everyone at the residence was arrested. Newton and 27-year-old James Henry Crabtree of the same address were both arrested, and charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II narcotic and conspiracy to distribute. Both are being held without bond.

25-year-old Chayne Michael Parsons of Pennington Gap, 26-year-old Barbara Ann Thomas of Keokee, and 26-year-old Sabrina Elizabeth Harber of Pennington Gap were at the residence at the time of the raid, all were arrested and charged with conspiracy to distribute a Schedule II narcotic, as well.

According to Parsons, Chayne Parsons is currently being held without bond, and the two other women were released on $10,000 unsecured bonds.

Parsons commended the hard work of his officers.

“This is a major bust for our area,” stated Parsons. “These people were putting a lot of poison on the street. I am proud of my people for putting them behind bars where they belong.”

The three individuals incarcerated are currently being held in the Duffield Regional Jail. All five will be arraigned in the Lee County General District Court on Tuesday morning.

An arrest is an accusation only, those arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
