MIDDLESBORO — A domestic fight turned violent Monday morning at Happy Hollow apartments when a woman allegedly stabbed her husband multiple times.
Middlesboro Police Department Lieutenant David Buis reported that the stabbing occurred at 11:59 a.m. because of a domestic dispute between the married couple. Mary Beth England-Coffey, a tenant of Happy Hollow Apts., allegedly stabbed her estranged husband Robert Coffey multiple times.
Robert was transported to the hospital by ambulance, and Mary Beth was taken to the Middlesboro Police Station for questioning. She was later transported to the Bell County Detention Center and charged.
Mary, 25, is charged with 2nd degree spousal abuse. Robert, who is also 25, was later arrested for active warrants, including a bench warrant and a complaint warrant for three different 4th degree assault charges.
The couple’s children were not present at the time of the incident.
Lt. Buis is in charge of this investigation. No further information was available.
