Edna M. (Lambert) Ellison, age 79 of Harrogate, Tenn., passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Claiborne County Hospital.
She was born in Forge Ridge, Tenn., on Feb. 16, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Johnny and Dessie Lambert.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leiman, Ethern and Arville; sister, Hazel Hammock;and two nephews, Estel and Vincent.
Edna loved to go to their cottage in Michigan, and she loved to be outdoors to look at the beautiful mountains, trees, flowers and listen to the birds sing. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. As a young girl, she lived and worked in Monroe, Mich., in a dry cleaners doing laundry. Then, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she and her husband lived for many years. She worked at May Co for 32 years. After retiring, she and her husband Leonard moved to Harrogate, Tenn., where they have lived for the past 18 years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leonard Ellison; brother, Therman (Ruth) Lambert; sisters, Naomi Cosby, June (White) Pratter, Ula (Jim) Galbreath and Vivian (Conley) Frye.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell, Tenn. Funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Moyers presiding. Music will be by the Indian Creek Church singers.
Graveside service at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Shoffner Cemetery. Pallbearers are Doug Ellison, Leonard Ellison, Steven Redmond, Chad Redmond and Shane Capps. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Frye and Glen Ellis.
