Pre-registration deadlines are Friday for some events scheduled during the Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival (CMFF).
Individuals registering for the 5K walk/run should do so by Friday to avoid a late registration fee. The pre-registration fee is $15, with an additional $5 added for registrations after the date. The run is at 8 a.m. on Oct. 6. The race will be along 21st Street and Cumberland Avenue. Registration on race day begins at 7 a.m.
Cash prizes are awarded to first, second and third place winners. Gift bags will be provided on race day. The event is open to all ages.
The festival staff continues to look for sponsorships for the event. For more information on the race, contact Kevin Larew at 606-269-6166.
Another deadline Friday is for applications for the festival pageant. The entry fee for Miss CMFF is $75. There is a $50 fee for all other age divisions. The entry fee for Miss Photogenic is $10 per 5x7 photo.
The pageant will take place on Sept. 29, in the Middlesboro Central Auditorium. There will be a $5 general admission fee. The Miss CMFF pageant (ages 16-20) begins at 4 p.m. with candidate interviews.
Pageants for the smaller age groups will begin earlier in the day with the little mister boys pageant beginning at 10 a.m. “Miss Itty Bitty” (ages 1-3) will follow at 11 a.m. “Tiny Miss” (ages 4-6) will begin at noon.
The “Little Miss” (ages 7-9) pageant will begin at 1 p.m.. The “Young Miss” pageant will start at 2 p.m. The “Junior Miss” pageant will begin at 3 p.m.
Winners from the CMFF pageant will be eligible to enter the Kentucky State Festival Pageant in Richmond.
