MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After leading the Lady Railsplitters to a 2-2 mark over this past weekend, Blaire Fowler and Allison Beavers have been named to the Christian Brothers University Invitational All-Tournament Team. The CBU Invitational All-Tournament Team was comprised of ten total players from six different schools.
Blaire Fowler led the way for the Lady ‘Splitters over the weekend, as the Fort Worth, Texas, native compiled 61 total kills for an average of 3.59 per set, ranking her third in the South Atlantic Conference in that department. She also ranked second on the team with 49 digs on the weekend, putting her at 2.88 per set. At this juncture, Fowler currently ranks fifth in the SAC with a .356 hitting percentage and 0.94 blocks per set.
Fowler notched a double-double in three of the four matches in the CBU Invitational with the lone match that fell short of attaining those figures being a 13-kill, eight-dig performance against the University of West Georgia. Her best match of the weekend came in a 3-2 win over Ouachita Baptist, as Fowler paced LMU with 23 kills and 15 digs. She hit an astounding .537 in that contest.
Blaire was named Daktronics All-Southeast Region Second Team and All-South Atlantic Conference First Team at the conclusion of last season.
Sophomore setter and right side Allison Beavers was also named to the CBU Invitational All-Tournament Team following her performance over the weekend. The Tomball, Texas native directed the Lady Railsplitters offense, leading the way with 98 assists on the opening weekend of play. She is currently averaging 5.76 assists per set. Beavers also served as a potent threat on the right side as an attacker, as she recorded 21 kills over the weekend. At 1.24 kills per set, Beavers ranks fifth on the team in that category.
The highlight of Beavers’ weekend came against the University of West Georgia, as she notched a game-high 35 assists while adding 13 digs. She also recorded five kills in that contest.
Last season, Allison was named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Freshmen Team.
Christian Brothers University’s Kelsey Miles was named the MVP of the CBU Invitational.
LMU returns to the court this weekend as they head to Jefferson City, Tenn., for the Carson-Newman Classic. The Lady Railsplitters open play against Armstrong Atlantic State University at 11 a.m. Friday.
